BIO:
Born halfway between Woodstock and Altamont, and raised halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Jens Lovtang has been a multi-instrumentalist and singer for over 40 years, and a music teacher for over a decade.
Jens earned an MS in Fisheries Biology from Oregon State University in 2005, and worked for nearly 20 years as a fisheries scientist, including over a decade with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, He taught community guitar classes part-time for the Central Oregon Community College In Redmond, Oregon from 2012-2016, while working full-time for Warm Springs.
Then, at the age of 46, Jens switched careers and became a full-time band teacher at the Redmond Proficiency Academy for the 2016-17 school year.
in the fall of 2017, Lovtang returned to school at Oregon State University to study music education, where he was Student Assistant Conductor of the Meistersingers Men's Chorus, Student President of the Chamber Choir, played bass in the jazz combo, taught classes in contemporary guitar and songwriting, and even sang a role in the Italian opera "La Rondine". He earned his B.S. in Music in 2019 and his Master of Arts in Teaching Music in 2020.
Jens teaches and creates his music and art in Corvallis, Oregon.
