When the Storm Finally Breaks

A song about storms, both outside and inside

VI: It's ninety five in the shade

And it ain't even noon

Gonna drown in this glass of lemonade

If this heat wave don't break soon

Dust rises up from the ground

The air is heavy and still

The sweat beads on my brow

Cooked like a dog upon the grill

Then the clouds grow long and tall

The sky goes to grey and black

And then the rain begins to fall

And I hear that thunder crack

Chorus:

Gonna stand out in the rain

And let it flow down my face

And wash away all the pain

When the storm finally breaks

VII:  It's getting chilly in here

Down at the old homestead

She's not completely clear

If it was something she did or said,

He was, stormin' round the kitchen

She heard the back door slam

Found him out by the old oak tree

With the letter in his hands

Seems an old war buddy had passed away

Without a warning at all

And as she took him in her arms

And the tears began to fall

Chorus:

Gonna stand out in the rain

And let it flow down my face

And wash away all the pain

When the storm finally breaks

Bridge

Storms they may be big and loud

Or they may be bottled inside

But when they break you can be sure

The sun will be shining on the other side

Chorus:

Gonna stand out in the rain

And let it flow down my face

And wash away all the pain

When the storm finally breaks
